A grateful "Thank You" to each of the hard-working members who made our District Conference a great success. Again, many WCFRS members did a magnificent job and had terrific fun in the process. Best of all, we raised enough money to fund scholarships in horticulture at Cape Fear Community College.
Then back to work prunning and fertilizing the rose garden at the New Hanover County Arboretum. For new members and other people interested in roses, we demonstrate how to get ready for a beautiful spring bloom. Come help and learn.

This is our yearly fundraiser. Jim Young from "Purely Organic" delivers our orders and speaks about fertilizers, chemicals, and other products of interest to rose lovers. Jim gives us great prices on great products.
A note about Jim's product: "Purely Organic" fertilizer is a carefully blended combination of alfalfa meal, cottonseed meal, fish meal, blood meal, steamed bone meal, finely ground rock phosphate, sul-po-mag (sulfur, potash and magnesium), Kelp (seaweed), green sand, and other natural ingredients—it contains no activated sludge. For outstanding foliage and blooms, apply 3 cups to each rose at pruning, then 2 cups every 6-8 weeks throughout the growing season. You will need approximately 7 cups per rose bush per growing season. Miniatures require 1 cup each time. Each 50-pound bag contains approximately 100 cups. This fertilizer can also be used for your other flowering and foliage plants.
